To provide a novel pipe device and its seal for controlling leakage.
A low temperature seal for a vacuum insulating pipe device has an inside pipe 15 connected to an outside pipe 14 by bellows 24. When the bellows causes failure, the seal prevents a low temperature liquid from flowing in an annular vacuum space 32 between the inside and outside pipes from the inside pipe. One end of the bellows is connected to the inside pipe by a movable bellows ring 34, and the other end of the bellows is installed on the outside pipe by a fixed bellows ring. A bellows guide 135 is installed in the fixed bellows ring, and receives the movable bellows ring in a sliding fashion. The seal can be positioned between the movable bellows ring and the bellows guide or between the fixed bellows ring and an outside surface of the inside pipe. The seal can also be positioned between a bellows shield 142 and the movable bellows ring. The seal can be formed into a leakage control ring 100 in the form of gland packing.
