To provide the sealing structure of a closed type kneader, the thrusting force to a sealing member of which can be easily adjusted by a simple structure from a position, which is radially and outwardly far from a kneading rotor shaft.

A second sealing ring 12 to give an axially thrusting force to a kneading rotor 3 is provided to a first sealing ring 11 so as to convert the peripheral rotation (clockwise or counterclockwise rotation) of the second sealing ring 12 into a force in the axial direction (A-B direction indicted with a line with arrowheads) of the kneading rotor 3 by means of a converting means 17 comprising of tapered surfaces 11A and 12A.
