PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for performing retrieval by searching for an object in social graph and social networking environment.SOLUTION: A method includes the steps of: accessing a social graph that includes a plurality of nodes and a plurality of edges; receiving, from a user, a structured query including references to the selected nodes and the selected edges; generating retrieval results corresponding to a structured query; determine retrieval intent on the basis of the selected nodes or the selected edges referenced in the structured query; and scoring the retrieval results on the basis of the retrieval intent.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
