The cutting device comprises a trackless self-propelled running body 10 and the main body 12 mounted on the self-propelled running body 10. The main body 12 of the cutting device comprises a base part 16 vertically erected on the front side of the self-propelled running body 10, a drive pulley 18, and a pair of arms 20. A vertically moving mechanism 22 and a revolving rotation mechanism 24 are mounted between the base part 16 and the self-propelled running body 10. When a pole-shaped object for cutting is cut, a wire saw is located in front of the pole-shaped object via main guide pulleys 36 mounted at the top of the arms 20. By revolving the wire saw by the drive pulley 18, the object is frictionally ground and push-cut from the front side toward the rear side.
