Abstract:

PURPOSE: To control the oscillation wavelength of a semiconductor laser as an excitation light source in such a way that it is matched to the peak of the absorption spectrum of a medium at a non-excitation solid-state laser device.

CONSTITUTION: A plurality of photodiode regions provided with different bandpass characteristics in order to monitor the oscillation wavelength and the output of a semiconductor laser is built in; the driving current and the operating temperature of the semiconductor laser are controlled in such a way that the ratio of monitoring currents at the individual photodiode regions is kept definite. Thereby, the oscillation wavelength of the semiconductor laser is controlled in such a way that it is matched to the peak of the absorption spectrum of a solid-state laser medium. Since the excitation efficiency of the medium of a solid-state laser device can be kept definite, the output of a green laser beam can be stabilized.
