PURPOSE: To prevent such troubles as cut, abrasion, seizure, etc., of sliding components of a sewing machine by a method wherein sliding components of a sewing mechanism are formed of hard anti-abrasive ceramics and water type liquid is supplied as a lubricant.

CONSTITUTION: Sliding components of a sewing machine such as a bearing 9a of a thread take up lever link 9, a thread take up lever 8, an upper spindle metal 13, etc., into which a needle bar metal 2, a crank rod 6, a square spacer 4, a supporting rod 10 are inserted are formed of hard anti-abrasive ceramics, and water type liquid is supplied as a lubricant. The component of said ceramics is composed of at least one among Al2O3, ZrO2, Cr2O3, SiC, Si3N4. As a result, such troubles as cut, abrasion, seizure of the sliding components of the sewing machine are prevented, and moreover, fouling of thread and fabric can be avoided.
