PURPOSE: To provide a shampoo composition weak in irritativity, not giving a creaky touch to hair over a series of hair-washing treatments ranging from hair washing to hair drying, preventing the spreading of hair, and capable of giving a united hair style.
CONSTITUTION: A shampoo composition contains (A) an amino acid surfactant, preferably an N-acylsarcosinate such as an N-acylsarcosinate, N-acyl-N-methyl-β- alaninate, or N-acylglutaminate, (B) an amphoteric surfactant, preferably an imidazoline, carbobetaine, amidobetaine or sulfobetaine amphoteric surfactant, and (C) a glyceryl sulfuric acid mono fatty acid ester of the formula (R is 8-24C saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon) or its salt, e.g. coconut oil fatty acid glyceryl sulfate salt at an A:B ratio of 4:1 to 1:4, preferably 2:1 to 1:2, in an A+B amount of 5-30wt.%, preferably 10-20wt.%, and in a C amount of 0.5-10wt.%, preferably 1-5wt.%.
