Abstract:

To output a highly diagnostic image at a monitor by adjusting sharpness by an endoscope image apparatus.

A luminance distribution image representing the luminance distribution of an image is produced. The luminance distribution image is produced by generating a luminance image composed of the luminance components of the image and then blurring it for instance (S401-403). Then, an enhancement amount of sharpness is determined for each pixel based on the value of each pixel of the luminance distribution image (S404). Further, the enhancement amount for each color is determined based on the determined enhancement amount of the sharpness (S405), and a brightness adjustment value and a saturation adjustment value corresponding to the portion are added to the pixel value of the original image (S406).
