PURPOSE: To improve adhesion between a hard coating and a lubricant by providing a shaving razor with a substrate and the layer of hard coating composition for forming the critical blade tip of a cutting blade while covering the substrate with the cutting blade of the razor at least.
CONSTITUTION: A material sprang out of a target 32 is stuck onto a substrate 10 and especially exposed cutting blades 15 and 21 and becomes the coating adhered on the iron materials of the substrate while directly overlying. The material from the target is stuck as an almost uniform non-crystalline coating. Since a substrate 10 is arranged in the stage of sputter coating while being plied 22, the sputtered atoms are moved almost from front to back toward the respective cutting blades of the substrate and collide with the substrate later. Layers 38 and 40 on the opposite side are stuck onto the opposite surface of each substrate 10 on the cutting blades 15 and 21. The layer 38 is overlapped on small faces 12 and 14, and the layer 40 is overlapped on small faces 16 and 18. Since the respective layers 38 and 40 are protruded forward over the top end of a blade 20, two layers are mutually fused. The fused layer forms the critical blade tip of the cutting blade, namely, the top end. The hard coating on the second cutting blade 21 is practically equal on respective blades.
