In a sheet stacking unit 20, a sensor 23 transmits a sheet detection signal to a control device when detecting that a distal end in a traveling direction or a rear end in the traveling direction of a sheet has passed through a predetermined position, the control device starts to count pulses output from a pulse output device 24 according to the sheet detection signal from the sensor. When the number of counted pulses becomes equal to or exceeds a preset air injection timing value, an air injection mechanism 25 starts injecting air, and when the number of counted pulses exceeds or becomes equal to a preset air injection stop timing value, the air injection mechanism 25 stops injecting air, to stack sheets in a stacking part 21.
