To efficiently perform polishing and grinding work in refining work for a sheet steel.
This polishing device for a sheet steel is composed of: a rotary polishing means using a grinding wheel; a rotary driving means for rotating the polishing means; an operating means for pressing the polishing means onto the sheet steel and operating feeding and moving of the sheet steel; and a moving means for moving these means. A set of the polishing means and the operating means and a set of the rotary driving means and the moving means are connected to each other by a connecting and/or supporting means elongated and contracted in the tangential direction of rotation of the polishing means, and the moving means is a moving means for changing the moving direction to the direction having an arbitrary angle to the tangential direction of rotation of the polishing means.
