NEW MATERIAL:A compound which is a siloxane having a unit shown by formula I [R1 is 1-4C alkyl, phenyl or trimethylsiloxy; R2 is bifunctional hydro carbon (hydrocarbon containing plural oxygen atoms is included) containing at least two carbons; X is alkoxy; n is 0-3; a is 2 or 3; R3 is 1-4C alkyl, phenyl or trimethylsiloxy; m is 0-3] and has another unit shown by formula II existing in the siloxane.
EXAMPLE: [3-Bis(trimethylsiloxy)methylsilyl-1-methylpropyl]-3,4,5-trimethoxy cinnamate shown by formula III.
USE: An ultraviolet light absorber soluble in silicone oil, having excellent water resistance and oil resistance.
PREPARATION: A cinnamic ester shown by formula IV [Y is monofunctional hydrocarbon containing at least two carbons and olefinic unsaturated bond (hydrocarbon containing plural oxygen atoms is included)] is reacted with a siloxane containing units shown by formula V and VI in an organic solvent in the presence of a flux.
