PURPOSE: To recognize time in the darkness in a driving system using a solar cell having no fear of environmental contamination by disposing an electroluminescent element in the front of a solar cell element.
CONSTITUTION: The solar cell watch with an electroluminescent element comprises a light emitting layer 43 diffusing and transmitting a light of at least in visible region, transparent electrode layers 42, 45 made of a transparent material in the light of visible region, and an insulating layer 44 to be laminated. The electroluminescent element 15 which emits a light at the time of functioning and transmits the light at the time of no function is manufactured. The element 15 is disposed the front face of a solar cell element 14 to contribute to the power generation due to the arrival of optical energy from the exterior at the element 14 except the function time, and to recognize time on a dial plate by the emitted light at the time of functioning. In this case, fluorophor or phosphor is contained in dufused state in the layer 43 having diffusing transparency to improve the shielding effect of the element 14 and generating efficiency of wavelength sensitizing effect.
