To provide a solid reducing furnace capable of efficiently radiating microwaves to the inside of the solid reducing furnace.
In the solid reducing furnace, a briquette is formed by mixing iron oxide raw material with reducing material and is heated by radiation heat from a burner and a furnace wall to manufacture reduced iron. The solid reducing furnace includes one or a plurality of waveguides inserted into the solid reducing furnace to introduce microwaves for heating the briquette, a cooling mechanism which is provided on the outer periphery of each of the waveguides for cooling the waveguides, and a heat insulation refractory material provided on the outer periphery of the cooling mechanism. An end part of the waveguide positioned inside the solid reducing furnace is an open end from which the air or inert gas is released.
