Abstract:

PURPOSE:To stably improve the articulation of a speech signal by relatively easy processing without making the output time long by compensating continuous masking. CONSTITUTION:A coefficient calculating means 11 finds a value for suppressing variation in the level of an input signal. The output value of this coefficient calculating means 11 is large when levels are precedent and lagging with time are large, but small when small. A 1st delay means 12 delays the input signal so as to compensate process delay. A multiplying means 13 multiplies the output of the 1st delay means 12 by the output of the coefficient calculating means 11 and outputs the result. Variation in the level of an output is therefore suppressed as compared with the input signal, so continuous masking is precluded and, specially, consonants which are low in level, etc., are emphasized.
