To make measurements possible with sensitivity at ppb level by dropping a sample solution with the addition of a coloring agent onto thin-layer chromatography, developing it, and measuring the fluorescence of an aluminum ion complex where it is dropped.
A coloring agent is used which is capable of forming aluminum ionic samples and complexes and made from a compound represented by the general formula (R1 is hydrogen or a sulfo group, R2 is hydrogen atom, a hydroxy group, an alkoxy group of 1 to 5 carbons, or an amino group that may be substituted by either a nitro group or an alkyl group of 1 to 5 carbons, and R3 is hydrogen atom, halogen atom, a sulfo group, or an alkyl group of 1 to 5 carbons). A sample solution with the addition of the coloring agent is dropped onto thin-layer chromatography, and when it is developed using a developing solvent such as acetone after drying, only a fluorescent aluminum complex is concentrated and completely separated from other metallic complexes and the excess coloring agent. Measurements with sensitivity at ppb level can be made by measuring the intensity of the fluorescence of the aluminum complex.
