The stain remover comprises a cap 1, a liquid absorption core 2, a holder 3 and a spacer 4 serving as intervening members, a cylinder 5, and a body 6. All of these members have circular cross sections in a direction perpendicular to an axis, with the cap 1 having an opening 11 only in one end thereof. The liquid absorption core 2 is made from polyester fibers and comprises a shank 21 at its rear end and a contact portion 22 formed at the front end of the shank 21, with a tapered insertion part 23 formed at the terminal of the shank 21. The contact portion 22 is spherical and greater in diameter than the shank 21, with its maximum cross-sectional area (a) greater than the maximum cross-sectional area b of the shank 21 to establish a relation of a>b.
