Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve flexibility and handling performance without sacrificing physical strength or knot fixing properties, by mechanically blending first and second thread containing different fiber forming materials by braiding to make heterogeneously braided multifilament.
CONSTITUTION: In sterilized and braided heterogeneous braid containing first and second sets of different continuous thread and the first set thread containing a number of filaments is directly braided with the second set thread. Each thread from the first set contains a number of filaments of the first fiber forming material and each thread from the second set contains a number of filament of the second fiber forming material. Each thread supplied from a spool is fixed on carriers 22, 22', 24, 242 which move around a circular closed loop 28 and alternately move to inside and outside of the loop 28 to form a braid pattern. The carrier 22, 22' advances clockwise on a spiral passage 27 as shown by an arrow mark 23 and the carrier 24, 24' advances counterclockwise on a spiral passage 29 as shown by an arrow mark 25 to distribute thread.
