To provide a stitching apparatus for tightly bonding a plurality of members with each other reliably without increase in the size of the apparatus, and a method of using the same.
The apparatus includes stitching rollers 2 attached in a swingingly displaceable manner to the surface of an objective product to be press-bonded and pressing the surface of the objective product to be press-bonded under rotation of the rollers, a toggle mechanism 3 for swingingly displacing the stitching rollers 2, which includes a combination of two sets of bending deformable toggle joints 5 and 6 formed by hinge-connecting two toggle levers with each other, and an advancing/retreating drive unit 4 that gives driving force to the toggle mechanism 3. The apparatus is constituted with a driven side toggle joint which has one end connected to the stitching rollers and the other end pivotally supported to an attaching base 1, and a driving side toggle joint which has one end hinge-connected to a bendable part B1 of the driven side toggle joint, and the other end pivotally supported to an attaching base, and bending-deformed by the advancing/retreating device unit 4. Each of the toggle joints is arranged and postured such that one toggle joint is deformed linearly as the other toggle joint is bent and deformed.
