To provide a stretchable nonwoven fabric without exuding a plaster to the surface on the side opposite to the coated surface even when the thickness is reduced and to provide a method for producing the stretchable nonwoven fabric.

The stretchable nonwoven fabric is obtained by entanglement of mutual constituent fibers of a fiber web including crimped fibers as a main component. Furthermore, in the stretchable nonwoven fabric, crimped fibers are subjected to water-repellent treatment with a water-repellent treating liquid containing a water-repellent treating agent using a beam dyeing machine after developing the crimps of the latently crimpable fibers. The method for producing the stretchable nonwoven fabric includes a step of carrying out an entanglement of a fiber web including the latently crimpable fibers as a main component, then heat shrinking the latently crimpable fibers at a crimp developing temperature and forming a stretchable fiber web and a step of performing the water-repellent treatment of the stretchable fiber web with the water-repellent treating liquid containing the water-repellent treating agent using the beam dyeing machine.
