Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stretchable nonwoven fabric for sanitary use, having excellent air-permeability and bulkiness and useful for disposable diaper, etc., by forming a number of holes on a specific composite fiber web under specific condition.
SOLUTION: The composite fiber web to be used as a starting material for the objective stretchable fabric is composed of the 1st fiber layer web 12 and the 2nd fiber layer web 13 each containing a thermoplastic synthetic fiber such as polyolefin fiber having a fiber length of 3-60 mm, a fineness of 0.5-6 d and a basis weight of 10-50 g/m2 and the 3rd fiber layer web 14 made of a stretchable thermoplastic synthetic fiber such as polyurethane fiber having a fineness finer than that of the 1st and the 2nd layer fibers and a basis weight of 10-50 g/m2, produced by melt-blowing method and sandwiched between the 1st and the 2nd webs. The composite fiber web is transferred on a supporting member having a hole-forming element and treated with a high-speed water flow from above to effect the entanglement of the fibers, the distribution of the fibers by the hole-forming element and the formation of a number of independent holes 11 directing in lateral, longitudinal and slant directions of the composite fiber web to obtain the objective stretchable nonwoven fabric 10 for sanitary use.
