Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide structural inserts configured to receive loads in honeycomb structures in aircraft.SOLUTION: There is provided a method and apparatus for manufacturing a sandwich structure 200. A cavity is formed in a core 208 of the sandwich structure 200. A structural insert 300 is placed into the cavity. The structural insert 300 comprises a first number of parts 304 configured to receive a load and a second number of parts 306 configured to be assembled together with the first number of parts 304 to form the structural insert for the sandwich structure.
