PURPOSE: To obtain a suction type ironing board of a high safety without hazard of burn by providing a built-in air guide for air passage in a body case rotatably, allowing the exhaust direction of the air guide to be set arbitrarily to the periphery of the body case.
CONSTITUTION: When an iron put on a rest 4 is taken up for ironing, a detecting means for iron on the rest detects it, causing a motor 9 to be started and a fan 10 to be turned on. Therefore, when the iron is removed from the rest 4 to be used on an ironing board 1, air is taken in from an intake port 6 and exhausted from an exhaust port 8. At this time, jets of steam sent out from the iron are sucked through a cover 3 and mat 2 and exhausted through the intake port 6 to the exhaust port 8. When the iron is put on the rest 4, the detecting means for iron on the rest stops the motor 9 and fan 10. Usually, when ironing, an outlet 11a of an air guide 11 is pointed to the opposite side of an operator so that exhausted steam may not be sent out to him.
