To provide supplying equipment for a log for lumbering which improves the productivity of the lumbering facilities as the whole by enhancing the efficiency of the centering process upon sawing up logs and which also can advance the labor saving by automating the work processes.
The supplying equipment for a log for lumbering comprises the temporary centering section which, after mounting the log for lumbering on a log trestle equipped with a pair of front and rear receptive seats and setting it at the initial position, transfers the log toward the transverse direction up to the shape measuring position; the shape measuring section which, after sandwiching the front and rear end faces of the log that has arrived at the shape measuring position with a pair of front and rear rotary chucks, turns the log and measures the peripheral shape of plural places; the control section which, by processing the measurement outputs from the shape measuring section, orders the correction of the center positions in the front and rear end faces of the log that is to realize the optimal sawn lumber by the lumbering equipment; and the centering/supplying section which grips the front and rear ends of the measured log with two pairs of front and rear clampers and mounts it on the log sending carriage sidelong of the shape measuring section. In the equipment the above two pairs of front and rear clampers are constituted so as to correct the moving distances of the front and rear ends of the log in accordance with the correction order of the control section.
