Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the press formability of an aluminum alloy sheet by applying specific surface treatment to the aluminum alloy sheet and also adding specific chemical elements.

CONSTITUTION: A chromate film is applied as a first layer to the surface of an aluminum alloy sheet, and an organic resin film containing lubricant is formed as a second layer on the above film. Further, the additive quantities of Mg, Si, B, etc., to the alloy sheet are properly regulated, and, if necessary, proper amounts of one or more elements among Zr, Cr, Mn, and V are added. By this method, the aluminum alloy sheet remarkably excellent in press formability can be obtained. This sheet can be effectively used as body sheet material for the purpose of reducing the weight of automobile bodies.
