To provide a surface-treatment material for an interior material, which makes the interior material look beautiful, has flexibility friendly to human, fineness and excellent moisture absorbing and releasing properties.

The surface-treatment material is obtained by mixing 100 pts.wt. of a pulp fiber having a beaten length adjusted to 0.1-50 mm, slip of paper shredded to 1-500 square millimeter or a mixture of the pulp fiber and the slips of paper with 50-200 pts.wt. of an emulsion-based resin or oil and fat composition and 1-20 pts.wt. of an additive containing a surfactant and a dispersant.
