Abstract:

To provide a safe, simple, and inexpensive surface type vagus nerve electrostimulation apparatus with a cardiac function monitoring device capable of providing effects similar to those of an embedded type by electrostimulation of the vagus nerve from a body surface and having a cardiac function monitoring device.

The vagus nerve electrostimulation apparatus for modifying the neural activity by the electrostimulation of the vagus nerve from the body surface includes: bipolar surface electrodes (1 and 1) for the vagus nerve stimulation, consisting of a positive electrode and a negative electrode for stimulating the vagus nerve (B) running along lateral rearward the left carotid artery; an electrostimulator to be connected to the bipolar surface electrodes (1 and 1) for the vagus nerve stimulation; a pressure sensor (2) disposed at the cervical division; a cardiac rate measuring instrument (15) for measuring a cardiac rate of the common carotid artery by blood pressure information from the pressure sensor (2); a blood pressure measuring instrument (16) for measuring the blood pressure by the blood pressure information from the pressure sensor (2); and a circulatory dynamics monitoring device (17) for monitoring the cerebral circulation.
