Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable to suspension-polymerized vinyl chloride in excellent productivity by charging a prescribed amount of deionized water, a suspending agent and a polymerization initiator to an autoclave, further charging vinyl chloride and a prescribed amount of heated deionized water in the autoclave to heat the mixture to the reaction temperature, and subsequently polymerizing the mixture. CONSTITUTION:In a method for suspension-polymerizing vinyl chloride, the ordinary temperature deionized water in an amount of 20-50wt.% based on all the amount of water in the polymerization system, a suspending agent such as styrene.maleic acid copolymer and a polymerization inhibitor such as hydroquinone (preferably in an amount of 0.005-0.05 pt.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the vinyl chloride) are charged to an autoclave, and stirring is started. Vinyl chloride and the remaining 50-80wt.% of deionized water heated above the polymerization temperature are further charged to the autoclave to heat the reaction system, followed by charging a polymerization initiator and polymerizing to provide a suspension polymerized vinyl chloride improved in fishetyes and the particle distribution.
