Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable to suspension-polymerize vinyl chloride in excellent productivity by charging a prescribed amount of deionized water, a suspending agent and a polymerization inhibitor to an autoclave, further charging vinyl chloride, a polymerization initiator and the remained amount of the heated deionized water to the autoclave to heat the mixture to the reaction temperature, and subsequently polymerizing the mixture. CONSTITUTION:In a method for suspension-polymerizing vinyl chloride, the ordinary temperature deionized water in an amount of 25-50wt.% based on all the amount of water in the polymerization system, a suspending agent such as styrene.maleic acid copolymer and a polymerization inhibitor such as hydroquinone are charged to an autoclave, and stirring is started. Vinyl chloride, a polymerization initiator such as diisopropyl peroxydicarbonate emulsified in an aqueous medium in the presence of a non-ionic surfactant, etc., and the remaining 50-80wt.% of the deionized water heated above the polymerization temperature are discharged to the autoclave to heat the mixture to the reaction temperature, followed by polymerizing the mixture to provide the suspension polymerized vinyl chloride improved in fisheyes and particle distribution.
