Abstract:

To provide a synthetic hydrotalcite and its use.

The synthetic hydrotalcite is represented by the formula MIIaMIIIb(OH)cXd.nH2O [where MII is at least one divalent metal selected from Co, Mn, Fe and Zn, MIII is trivalent Al and trivalent Ru or trivalent Ru, X is an anion other than a hydroxy anion (OH-), each of (a), (b), (c) and (d) is a positive number, 2a+2b=c, b=md, (m) is the valence of the anion X and is an integer of 1-4 and (n) is a number of 0-30]. The synthetic hydrotalcite is used as an oxidation catalyst, e.g. for the oxidation of aliphatic satd. sec. alcohols, α, β-unsatd. alcohols or methylene compds. having an α, β-unsatd. bond. By the oxidation, corresponding aliphatic satd. ketones, α, β-unsatd. aldehydes or ketones or ketones having an α, β-unsatd. bond are prepd.
