Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine including a mechanical conversion system for converting a four-stroke standard internal combustion engine into an eight-stroke engine.SOLUTION: A converting mechanical system 10 includes a dual connecting rod 20 having a top section adapted to be pivotally connected to a piston 70 of a conventional internal combustion engine and a bottom section 130 adapted to be connected to a crankshaft 60 of the conventional internal combustion engine. A support 30 surrounds each dual connecting rod 20 and includes a retractable device 200. A decoupling device 40 is adapted to be located on the crankshaft 60 of the conventional internal combustion engine. The dual connecting rod 20 has a first working position, in which the dual connecting rod 20 is rigid and connected to the crankshaft 60 when the piston 70 moves. In a second working position, the dual connecting rod 20 disconnects the crankshaft 60 from the piston 70 by action of the decoupling device 40.
