Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a tamper indicating package capable of being easily fitted to a container, and effectively separating a tamper indicating band from a closure during the removement for preventing the tamper.
CONSTITUTION: A tamper indicating package comprises a container 30 having a neck 31 with a threaded finish, an annular bead 37 on the neck, a base wall, a plastic closure 32 including a depending peripheral skirt 34 having threads 32a interengaging the threads 31a of the container, and a tamper indicating band 35 attached to the skirt 34 by a plurality of weakened portions 36 defining a line of severing. An annular flange 40 extends axially upwardly and inwardly from the tamper indicating band 35 toward the base wall 33 of the closure and comprises a first continuous annular flange portion 42 connected to the band 35 by a hinge portion 41 and a second portion. The second portion comprises a plurality of segment portions 43 extending upwardly and inwardly from the first connecting portion 42 with the free end of the segment portions 43 engaging beneath the bead on the container when the closure 32 is threaded onto the container.
