PURPOSE: To reduce weight by providing a flexible joint assembly for connecting the underside of each tip of a leaf spring equalizer beam to the subadjacent end of an axle, with a load cushion formed of elastomeric material in which the projecting portion of a spring anchor is embedded.
CONSTITUTION: Flanges 15, 16 extended in the lateral direction of a spring anchor 14 are fitted between a bottom leaf 17 and an intermediate leaf 18 of a spring 10, and the flanges 15, 16 are fastened to the bottom leaf 17 by a pair of rivets 20. The spring anchor 14 is seated in a socket formed at a load cushion 21 formed of elastomeric or elastic rubber material, and the bottom face of the spring anchor 14 is almost spherical in both the longitudinal and lateral directions and jointed between the tip of each leaf spring and a subadjacent axle 13. The load cushion 21 is accommodated in an upward open socket 28 of an upper axle bracket 24 and bonded to the inner surface of a rigid liner 22.
