Thioethers of the formula I in which Ar denotes a phenyl radical, which may optionally be substituted by alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkanoyl, hydroxyl, hydroxyalkyl, carboxyl, alkoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl, nitro, amino or halogen, A denotes a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated C1-C8-alkylene radical, which may optionally be substituted by a hydroxyl group, n denotes the number 0, 1 or 2, B denotes a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated C1-C8-alkylene radical and R denotes 5-(1H)-tetrazolyl CN, SCN, OH, halogen, 5-(1H)-tetrazolylthio where R1 represents hydrogen, alkyl which may optionally be substituted by cycloalkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl and aryl, where the aromatic moiety may be substituted by alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkanoyl, hydroxyl, hydroxyalkyl, carboxyl, alkoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl, nitro, amino and halogen, and their pharmacologically tolerable salts are used for controlling allergic diseases.
