Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject terminal-modified polymer useful for polymer modifier, etc., by reacting N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate, etc., to a polypropylene or an ethylene-propylene random copolymer prepared by living polymerization.
CONSTITUTION: The objective terminal-modified polyolefin has a modifying substituent of formula (R is H or methyl; R' and R" are 1-4C alkyl; m is 1-4) on a terminal of a polypropylene or an ethylene-propylene random copolymer. It can be produced by charging a solvent such as n-heptane into a reactor after thoroughly substituting the atmosphere in the reactor with nitrogen gas, cooling the solvent at -60°C, adding propylene or a mixture of propylene and ethylene to the solvent, further adding aluminum diethyl chloride and vanadium tri(2-methyl-1,3-butanedionate) as catalysts, subjecting to living polymerization at -60°C for 1hr. adding a (meth)acrylic acid derivative having amino group such as N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate and reacting at 0°C for 1hr.
