PURPOSE: To obtain a pharmaceutic for the treatment or prophylaxis for retroviral infection, especially human immunodeficiency viral infection or hepatitis B viral infection by using a specified fluoronucleoside analog.
CONSTITUTION: The objective pharmaceutic is obtd. by using a compd. expressed by formula I or its deriv. In the formula I, R1 is 1 to 4C alkylthiomethyl, cyanomethyl, azidethyl, etc. As for compds. expressed by formula I, a compd. except a compd. with R1 being azidemethyl or bromomethyl, for example, 2',3'- dideoxy-3'-fluoro-5-methoxymethyluridine is a new compd. Among the new compds., a compd. with R1 being 1 to 4C alkylthiomethyl is obtd., for example, by hydrolyzing a compd. expressed by formula II (OR is protected hydroxy; X is R1) and deblocking.
