PURPOSE: To obtain a thermal transfer sheet which is excellent in printed matter resistance such as scratch resistance, hot press resistance, etc., by a method wherein a thermal transfer ink layer containing a specific polymer is provided to a surface of a base material sheet, and a back layer is provided to its rear surface.
CONSTITUTION: An application liquid is prepared by dispersing or dissolving a component having waxes as main one in organic solvent or water. The application liquid is applied to a surface of a base material sheet of a plastic film or the like, and dried to form a separate layer. A dispersion liquid wherein a coloring agent such as inorganic pigment, organic pigment, etc., a copolymer of ethylene and acrylic acid or alkyl acrylate expressed by CH2=CR-COOH (R represents a hydrogen, and an alkyl group), and a styrene-butadiene synthetic rubber are dispersed in a water-soluble solution, is applied onto the abovementioned separate layer, and dried to laminate a thermal transfer color material layer. Further, a back layer consisting of silicone resin, fluorocarbon resin, etc., is laminated on a rear surface of a base material sheet to form a thermal transfer sheet.
