Abstract:
To provide a composite structure reinforced by a continuous through thickness reinforcement having a novel cellular structure, and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: A composite article (300) includes fiber tows (302) and a network (304) including material drawn or pulled between the fiber tows (302). The network (304) forms a physical barrier reducing propagation of cracks in the composite article (300) to toughen resin infused composites, and can form a structure caused by a continuous through thickness reinforcement that does not induce fiber breakage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3A
