Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject molding material excellent in transparency, planar smoothness and boiling resistance and suitable for household equipments such as wash stand by blending a specific resin composition with aluminum hydroxide and a curing agent at a specific ratio.
CONSTITUTION: The objective molding material is obtained by blending 100 pts.wt. of a resin composition consisting of (A) 5-30wt.% of bromine-containing epoxypoly(meth)acrylate obtained by reacting a bromine-containing epoxy resin with an acid component consisting essentially of (meth)acrylic acid, (B) 65-40wt.% of an unsaturated polyester obtained by reacting (i) a glycol component containing ≥50mol% of a compound of the formula [X is H, Cf or Br; (p) and (q) are 0-4; (m) and (n) are 1 or 2; R1 and R2 are 2-3C alkylene] with (ii) an acid component containing ≥50mol% of an α,β-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid (anhydride) and (C) 20-50wt.% of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer with 20-500 pts.wt. of aluminum hydroxide and a curing agent. Furthermore, the molding material is cured to provide the objective artificial marble.
