To provide a raw yarn for fabrics which develops crimp, contracts apparent yarn length, and thereby closes stitches of woven or knitted fabric when a fiber absorbs moisture, and has see-through-preventing and water-proofing functions.
A conjugate fiber having moisture-sensitivity and crimping property, is obtained by conjugating a polyamide component with a polyester component side by side and has thick parts and thin parts in the longitudinal direction and satisfies the following requirements: (A) The polyester component is a copolyester composed of at least 60 mol% ethylene terephthalate units and 0.5-40 mol% ethylene isophthalate units and containing a specific polyether ester amide in an amount of 5-55 wt.% based on the total weight of polyester. (B) The percentage of crimp (DC) is 4.0-12.0% and the percentage of crimp (HC) is 5.0-13.0% and the difference C in percentage of crimp, represented by the formula:C(%)=HC(%) - DC(%)is 0.3-8.0%.
