Abstract:

To provide a titanium material which has equal or higher surface Ra and greater Ra/Sm in order to enhance a surface area as compared with surface ruggedness of conventional dull roll finishing and pickling finishing, i.e., having ruggedness of larger depth and higher density and is further enhanced in lubricity, and to provide a production method thereof.

The titanium material is characterized in that the arithmetic average roughness of the surface is 1.5 to 5.0 μm and the ratio Ra/Sm of Ra and the average spacing Sm of the ruggedness is 0.018 to 0.005 and further the titanium material has an oxide film and nitride film on its surface, thereby the surface area of the titanium material is increased and the lubricity is improved. Also, in the production method thereof, the titanium material formed with the oxide film or the nitride film on the surface by heating the material in an oxidizing atmosphere or nitriding atmosphere or in the oxidizing/nitriding atmosphere is bent and drawn, and then dissolved/shaved off with an aqueous acid solution in which metal titanium is soluble. Further, the material is subjected to an oxidation or nitridation treatment.
