PURPOSE: To provide a rotary anode X-ray tube whose anode is constructed small and with which the assembly of the shaft box and rotary shaft can be done easily.
CONSTITUTION: A rotary anode X-ray tube is composed of a stator 1, a rotor 2 supported thereon rotatably, and an X-ray generating target 3 fixed to the rotor 2. The stator 1 has a shaft box 4 formed cylindrically, and therein a rotary shaft 6 fixed to the rotor 2 is supported rotatably by angular bearings 5a, 5b. The angular bearings 5a, 5b are so structured that no conventional inner ring is used but that a rolling groove for balls is formed at the rotary shaft 6. One end of the outer ring of each bearing is supported in the biting part of the cylinder of shaft box 4, and one end of the outer ring of the one 5b is supported by a bearing holder 7 to be engaged by threads formed at the inside circumference of the shaft box 4.
