Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the title package enabled to be tolerated against microwave irradiation by sufficiently diluting a deoxygenating agent to be contained consisting mainly of iron powder with a specific filler and by regulating the air permeability of the packaging material to be used. CONSTITUTION:An air-permeable packaging material <=1,000sec./100cc in Gurley permeability is packed with a mixture comprising (1) iron powder, (2) a metal halide and (3) >=100vol.wt., based on 100vol.wt. of the iron powder, of filler sparingly soluble or insoluble in water, <=60 mesh in particle size and <=50m<2>/g in specific surface area. Thereby the title package can be prevented from impairment of its oxygen-absorptive function even irradiated with microwave in a state packaged in combination with foods and/or other objects to be heated or sterilized. Furthermore, the contents (deoxygenating agent) can be prevented from spilling due to being heated by microwave to effect bursting or burning of said package.
