Abstract:
A photographic still camera includes a magnetic head (60) for recording information on a magnetic surface of photographic film. The head (60) is supported on a carriage (68) which is mounted on a film platen (30) for movement relative to the platen perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the film. A spring (102) mounted on the carriage (68) is provided with spring arms (108, 110) that bias the carriage (68) toward the longitudinal axis of the film so that a pair of pins (80) extending from the carriage engage an edge of the film to maintain a precise relationship between the recorded information track and the film edge. A pressure pad (116) carried by another arm (114) of the spring (102) urges the film into contact with the head (60). The platen carriage (68), head (60), spring (102) and pressure pad (116) form a modular assembly which can be conveniently mounted into a photographic still camera.
