PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of a jam by providing a pickup roller positioned below a pickup roller on the side, positioned facing a tray, of a sheet feeding conveying unit and controlling a tray and a unit so that a transfer sheet protruded to the outside of the tray is brought into contact with a guide body to return the protruding sheet to the tray.
CONSTITUTION: A guide body 40 positioned below a pickup roller 9 is mounted on the side, positioned facing a tray 2, of a sheet feeding conveying unit 8. A transfer sheet 1 placed on a tray 2 is picked up and when double feed sheets are protruded to the outside of the tray 2, the horizontal drive part for the tray 2 and the elevating driven part of the unit 8 are controlled. The tip of the transfer sheet 1 in a protruding state is brought into contact with a guide part 40 of the unit 8 and returned to the tray 2. Thus, even when the feed of the sheets from the tray 2 is completed and the unit 8 is elevated so that sheets can be fed from a plurality of vertically located other trays 2, the unit 8 is prevented from being caught by the transfer sheet 1 in a protruding state.
