Abstract:
To provide a cathode active material having high capacity characteristic, output characteristic, especially excellent output characteristic in a low SOC area, and excellent cycling property at same time, and a transition metal-containing composite hydroxide particle which is a precursor thereof.SOLUTION: There is provided a cathode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery consisting of a secondary particle formed by aggregating a plurality of primary particles, in the secondary particle, large particle diameter particles having a structure in which an aggregation part of the primary particle electrically communicating with an outer shell part and electrically communicating each other, and a space part having no primary particle are dispersed inside of the outer shell part, and solid small particle diameter particles having radium with similar to thickness of the outer shell part of the large particle diameter particles or the aggregation part of the primary particle are mixed, a ratio of the large particle diameter particles and the small particle diameter particles is similar to a mass ratio in a composite hydroxide particle, and the small particle diameter particles exist with a mass ratio in a range of 0.05 to 20 based on the large particle diameter particles.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
