PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transport device capable of efficiently transporting a to-be-transported article.SOLUTION: A transport mechanism 91 comprises: a plurality of buckets 961A for storing a plurality of covers C in a stacked manner; pre-stage transport means 96 for transporting the buckets 961A to a work area 981; transporting transfer means 98 for holding and transferring the covers C stored in the plurality of buckets 961A, respectively, transported to the work area 981; working detection means 986 for detecting presence of the covers C stored in the plurality of buckets 961A, respectively, transported to the work area 981; and transporting control means for controlling the transport mechanism 91. The transporting control means comprises: a movement determination part for determining whether or not to move a transport path 961 on the basis of a detection result of the working detection means 986; and a transfer determination part for determining whether or not to transfer the covers C on the basis of the detection result of the working detection means 986.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 26
