PURPOSE: To enhance packing power of feathers and to simultaneously improve antistatic properties and deodorizing properties by reacting feathers with a specific chromium compound in a bath having pH ≥5 and providing the feathers with an antistatic agent and a deodorant in a final cleaning process.

CONSTITUTION: Feathers are immersed in a bath having pH ≥5, 1-5wt.% based on the feathers of Werner type chromium complex compound is added to the bath, further 3-10 wt.% based on the feathers of basic chromium or aluminum and the feathers are reacted with the compounds. The feathers are taken out from the bath, washed at least two or more times, provided with an antistatic agent (0.5-2wt.% antistatic agent based on feathers) and a deodorant in a final cleaning process, then dried and dust is removed from the feathers. Consequently, since the feathers do not have greasiness and do not produce lump, the feathers have enhanced packing power and exhibit excellent deodorizing effects.
