Abstract:

PURPOSE: To attain excellent high-speed follow-up performance by selectively guiding a cam follower to a shallow groove and a deep groove corresponding to each profile of the pause and the drive of a tuck-in needle formed on a cylindrical groove cam in parallel and, at the same time, converting the motion of said cam follower to the motion of needle.

CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical groove cam 20 rotating synchronously with the main shaft of a loom is provided with a shallow groove 21 having the form of a straight ring corresponding to the pause profile of a tuck-in needle and with a deep groove 22 corresponding to the driving profile of the tuck-in needle parallel to the shallow groove. The apparatus is further provided with a switching mechanism 33 to restrict and control the insertion depth of a cam follower 23 to said cylindrical groove cam 20 and selectively guide the cam follower 23 to the shallow groove 21 or the deep groove 22. The motion of the cam follower 23 in the direction of the rotational center line of the cylindrical groove cam 20 is converted to the reciprocating rotational motion of the tuck-in needle by power transmission mechanisms 26, 27, 28. The driving and pause of the tuck-in needle can be performed with single drive cam by the above mechanism.
