Abstract:

To generate an acoustic velocity map of a region of interest that a doctor sets at first, irrespective of movement of a subject or the like.

A region of interest is set on a B mode image displayed on a display unit. RF data corresponding to the region of interest are acquired by setting a plurality of transmission focal points in the region of interest and transmitting/receiving ultrasonic waves. A local acoustic velocity value of the region of interest is calculated based on the RF data corresponding to the region of interest to generate an acoustic velocity map representing acoustic velocity distribution of the region of interest. The acoustic velocity map is superimposedly displayed on the B mode image. A newly acquired position of the region of interest in the B mode image is tracked. On the basis of a tracking result of the position of the region of interest, a new acoustic velocity map is generated according to a change in the position of the region of interest, and the acoustic velocity map is superimposedly displayed on the B mode image.
